Newborn Baby Photoshoot Preparations. What should you be ready with?

It is important to have a clear understanding of what the newborn baby photoshoot day is going to look like. Here is an article to help you understand what you need to work on before going for a Newborn baby Photoshoot. We usually send out a document or an email outlining the usual itinerary and what will be included and what you’re required to bring including any newborn photography props you want to try out.

To ensure set-up goes smoothly, we insist on the following:

You feed the baby right after arrival or during set-up. This way, the little one will be full and ready for a nap when we are ready to shoot.

Undress the infant during or after the feeding, so that you won’t have to fumble with their clothing when they’re napping.

If you get a hint that the shoot day is going to be a long one, have additional supplies, in case of messes.

If you are planning to have the shoot at your premise, we insist that you run us through a virtual tour of your house so that we can ideally spot the shoot locations and prepare ourselves. We look for places that has lot of natural light, large windows some elegant backgrounds and large walls.

Naked babies get cold soon. We suggest you prepare to keep the temperatures adjusted.

Loosen the diaper a little before we arrive. This will eliminate any annoying diaper lines and the need for retouching later.

Keep extra wipes, diapers, blankets, and trash bags nearby for quick cleanups.

Naked babies do tend to have more accidents, so it’s a good idea to be ready. Just remember to be patient and don’t get embarrassed or frustrated when things go wrong.

Props, props, and more props! Just keep in mind that we might not be able to get all the props. Also, you are not required to provide any props. For example, during a lifestyle newborn photo session, we focus more on documenting the important moments between baby and parents, instead of the sleeping baby poses with props.

If you are arranging the baby outfits, we suggest you have them readily available by laying them out nearby.

If the baby has siblings or you have other children at home, remind them to try to stay calm and quiet to keep the newborn happy. Explain to the siblings ahead of time what is expected of them during the photo session. Of course, they can be covered with the baby in several crazy poses.

Keep your clothing simple, without big patterns and logos. Soft, neutral fabrics are flattering and don’t distract.
To be frank, you never know how a newborn photo session will go. Babies are pretty unpredictable, but they are really adorable! These suggestions are only to help you feel prepared and comfortable. You know your newborn better than we do so please don’t hesitate to bring up any concerns or suggestions.

Stay patient! It is a proven fact that babies can sense when their parents are becoming upset or frustrated. We understand that Crying, inability to soundly sleep, bathroom breaks, and the need for more feeding are all normal things during a photo session.

While we have tried to cover important points to consider, our team will correspond with you regarding the complete preparation for your newborn baby photoshoot. Go ahead and register your shoot, we will make it more memorable for you.
